Our smile has such a strong effect on our appearance; and, unfortunately, due to chipped, discolored or slightly crooked teeth, the effect isn’t always a positive one. Many people are ashamed of their smiles and even cover them up when they laugh or smile. If that’s you, we have the answer in porcelain veneers.
What Are Porcelain Veneers?
Porcelain veneers are thin pieces of porcelain that can be affixed to your natural tooth structure, giving each tooth a fresh, movie star quality look and feel. The porcelain is a strong material that feels and functions like a normal tooth.

Your Teeth and Porcelain Veneers: A Match Made in Heaven
When you come down to our dental office for a consultation about Centennial porcelain veneers, we’ll discuss your personal goals for your future smile. We’ll make recommendations as to what we think will make your smile beautiful and long-lasting, and then you can decide whether our goals match your own.
Next, we discuss the look of the porcelain veneers. There are a variety of options to consider, including:
- Shape: What shape would look the most natural over your teeth?
- Shade: How white would you like your smile to be?
- Opacity: You can choose how natural your teeth will look
After everything is decided, Dr. Kary Berry will prepare your teeth for new porcelain veneers by removing a small amount of the surface off of each tooth. The process is achieved while you are under local anesthesia, so you shouldn’t feel any pain.
Once you are prepped, Dr. Berry and her team will take impressions of your teeth to send to the lab so they will know how your teeth are shaped. This way, each porcelain veneer will fit like a glove.
While the dental lab is hand-crafting your porcelain veneers, you will wear temporary veneers that Dr. Berry will have fitted during your first visit to our office. Patients find that even the temporary veneers have a powerful effect on how their smile looks and ultimately on their self-confidence. Remember, your temporary veneers are not as strong as your actual teeth, so you will have to be conscious about what you eat. Dr. Berry and her team will instruct you on how to care for your teeth while wearing temporary veneers.
Receiving Your Permanent Porcelain Veneers
When your porcelain veneers arrive from the lab, you will come in for a second appointment to have your veneers properly seated. Dr. Berry will carefully remove the temporary veneers you have been wearing and will loosely place the new porcelain veneers, so you may see how they look. For many patients, the first sight of their new smiles moves them to tears. It can be that powerful.
Dr. Berry will then cement the porcelain veneers in place using a strong dental adhesive that is light-cured, much like she will when placing white fillings. She will make sure the occlusion of your bite is still sound, and afterwards, you are free to enjoy your beautiful smile!
